Our newest collection once again originates from Greece. It tells the stories of the Minassian and Palandjian families, which began in Afyonkarahisar, Adana, Izmir, Gallipoli, and Rodosto/Tekirdağ; and continued in Kokkinia, Greece.
The families‘ history was reconstructed thanks to the recollections and testimonies of Haigan Minassian and Quinn Minassian.
When the families fled to Greece, they were able to rescue many memory items from their homelands. These items are presented on this page.
The collection includes an assortment of photographs that document the life of Armenians in Greece, particularly in Kokkinia. Most of these photographs were taken from Garo Minassian‘s (Haigan and Quinn‘s father) personal album. These photographs not only portray family events and occasions, but also chronicle Greek-Armenian community life from the 1920s through the
1960s – class photographs, school events, celebrations, visits of notable personalities to Greece, church ceremonies, theatrical performances, etc.
