Our new family collection explores the history of the Anserlian family. For generations, the Anserlians lived in the city of Ayntab, where many of them practiced copper smithing.
In the early 1920s, the Anserlians permanently left their native city. Many of them settled down in Aleppo, where copper smithing continued to be their principal occupation. Aleppo was not the Anserlians’ final stop. From there, members of the family proceeded to Jerusalem, Beirut, Amman, and Kuwait. Later, many Anserlians moved to the United States.
This article was written by Sevan Boghos-Der Bedrossian, one of Houshamadyan’s regular contributors, who conducted interviews with Bedros Anserlian. The family history is based on the information provided by Bedros during these interviews. Notably, Bedros Anserlian is also the author of a recently published book, titled "Anserlian
Dynasty".
