Krikor Chilingirian and his daughter, Mannig, survived the Armenian Genocide, only to be uprooted once again in 1922. They found shelter in Greece.
Like numerous Armenian refugees, Krikor began a new life in Greece. He made a living as a laborer, remarried, and had children.
But then, the Second World War broke out, German forces occupied Greece, and a widespread famine struck the country. In 1944, Krikor was arrested in the Dourghouti/Fix neighborhood of Athens, where he lived, and deported to Germany as a forced laborer.
