Ani Voskanian‘s new article explores the trades and occupations of the Armenians of Ayntab. We have already published a separate article that focuses on manisa manufacturing in the city, which was a highly developed industry.
This article mostly focuses on other trades and crafts. Some of the most common occupations among the Armenians of Ayntab were leathermaking/tanning, carpentry/joinery, embroidery, jewelry, coppersmithing, and soap making.
Ani is currently working on another article, which will appear on Houshamadyan in a few months, focusing on the Armenian merchants of Ayntab. We would also like to take this opportunity to welcome our newest team member, Kevork Yazedjian, who has joined Houshamadyan as an Armenian language copy editor. This collaboration was made possible thanks to the efforts of Mher Babian, one of Houshamadyan‘s friends and
supporters.
